Using the Dictation Function

With the dictation function, you can enter your messages via voice input instead of typing. This is especially practical when you want to ask longer questions or need your hands free.

  1. Click the microphone icon in the chat input area
  2. Allow microphone access if prompted (a browser prompt appears the first time)
  3. Speak your message
  4. Click the microphone icon again to end the recording
  5. The spoken text appears in the input field
  6. Review the text and adjust it if needed
  7. Click Send
  • Quiet environment – Background noise can affect recognition
  • Clear pronunciation – Speak clearly and at a normal pace
  • Edit text afterward – Review the recognized text before sending and correct any errors
  • Say punctuation – In some browsers, you can say “period,” “comma,” or “question mark” to insert punctuation
  • A microphone (built-in or external)
  • A current web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari)
  • Microphone permission must be granted in the browser
